What to expect

Osteopathy is a form of hands on manual therapy that is designed to help improve movement and reduce pain in people of all ages.

Osteopaths believe that the body has the ability to maintain and regain its own health and vitality so long as it is properly aligned.

Osteopathy does not rely on medication or surgery as part of your treatment, instead Osteopathy uses a range of techniques from soft tissue (muscles and fascia) release, gentle, rhythmical joint articulations, stretching and joint manipulation to help to get you moving and out of pain as quickly as possible.

Qualified Osteopaths are highly trained musculoskeletal specialists, having undertaken 4 to 5 years of training and have to complete over 1,000 hours of clinical practice treating conditions like frozen shoulders, tennis elbow, sciatica, low back pain, hip pain and knee pain before being able to register as an Osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) who regulate the profession.

Osteopaths have to follow strict guidelines regarding professional conduct, complete regular and ongoing training programmes in order to stay up to date with current best practice.

Osteopathic treatment considers the whole body, and is suitable for anyone who is in pain, or feels something isn’t moving the way it should.

Unfortunately we do not treat babies or toddlers. We do treat children from the age of 12-16 years old providing that mum or dad is present during the consultation.
